Carmilla only preyed on young girls, because they made her young. She would go to them nightly until they became so weak and ill they died. Carmilla would then move on to a new victem. Throughout the centuries, she would change her name. However, the names she chose had to be variations that contained the same letters that were already in her name. It's a vampire thing, I suppose. The modern vampires, though, could care less now. If they change their names, they will. It doesn't matter if it's a variation or something completely different. Or, they won't change it at all.
